The Event

The new school year has started. There has been quite some discussion about the innovation dilema in education: how educators in primary, middle school and higer education utilize the latest tools and technologies to innovate. In this first Yale education forum lecture of the semester, we bring innovation leaders in education from the globe to share their views. We will be hearing different perspectives from leaders from Minerva, Dulwich College Beijing, Beijing National Day School, Beijing Jingshan School.

LANGUAGE

The language of the event will be Chinese and English, with simultaneous interpretation.

Yue Qiu
Headmaster of Beijing Jingshan School

Mr. Yue Qiu is a graduate of Beijing Jingshan School and Capital Normal University. He served as Head Teacher of Junior High School, Vice Principal of Beijing Jingshan School for nine years. As Vice Principal, he has made fruitful strides in moral education. The school's accomplishments were reported and shared as exemplars at numerous national and regional moral education seminars. He was appointed Principal of Beijing Jingshan School in July 2015.

Fengqin Wu
Vice Principal of Beijing National Day School

Ms. Fengqin Wu is the Vice Principal of Beijing National Day School ("BNDS"), in charge of international education and the international division. She has a distinguished career as a teacher and principal. She has the designation of Special-grade Senior Teacher in English, and received the Distinguished Contribution Award for her work integrating international education within the Chinese context at BNDS.

Simon Herbert
Headmaster of Dulwich College

Simon has been Headmaster of Dulwich College Beijing since 2016, and before that he was Head of Senior School from 2012. He holds an MA degree in International Leadership and Education and a BA degree in French and Latin from the University of Nottingham. After several years account managing in advertising research, he decided to return to his first love of education. Before arriving in Beijing he was Head of Modern Languages and then Senior Housemaster at Fettes College in Edinburgh, where he also introduced the IB Diploma Programme.

Robin Goldberg
Chief Experience Officer at Minerva

Robin Goldberg is Chief Experience Officer at Minerva, leading all aspects of the student experience. Prior to Minerva, Goldberg worked as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Blurb and as Senior Vice President of Global Marketing for Lonely Planet. Prior to Lonely Planet, Goldberg held several key marketing roles in technology and consumer brand companies, including Nestle, Clorox, and ClickAction. She received her MBA degree at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and her B.S. in Business Administration at the University of California, Berkeley.

Martin Ma (Ph.D '07)
Founder and CEO, Happy Universe

Dr. Martin Ma is founder and CEO of Happy Universe, a startup using AI and big data to develop online education and game apps. Dr. Ma holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Tsinghua University and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Yale University.
