What do eBay, Netflix, and Tencent have in common? What is the secret sauce behind the world’s most successful businesses in the digital economy? Robbie Kellman Baxter, best-selling author of The Membership Economy, and Yale professor Song Ma, who was recognized as Poets & Quants’ 40 Under 40 Best Business School Professors, will share their perspectives and insights on how entrepreneurs and business leaders can build more innovative, powerful, and valuable organizations.

The Speakers

Robbie Kellman Baxter
Consultant, Author, Speaker

Robbie Kellman Baxter is a consultant, author and speaker. She wrote both The Membership Economy and The Forever Transaction, and hosts the podcast Subscription Stories. Robbie has more than 20 years of experience providing strategic business advice to major organizations, including Netflix, Microsoft and the Wall Street Journal. She has been focused on subscription and membership models for the past twenty years. She earned her MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and she graduated with honors from Harvard College.

Song Ma
Assistant Professor of Finance, Yale School of Management

Song Ma is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Yale School of Management (SOM). His main research interests are corporate finance, entrepreneurial finance, innovation, and business law. His research has been featured in top academic journals such as the Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and Review of Financial Studies, and won numerous research awards. His research has also been referenced by legislator and policy makers around the world, including the Federal Trade Commission, EU Competition Commission, and UK Competition and Markets Authority. Professor Ma teaches a popular course Entrepreneurial Finance at Yale SOM, and was recognized as Poets & Quants’ 40 under 40 Best Business School Professor in 2021.

Greenberg Distinguished Colloquium

Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Maurice R. Greenberg, Chairman and CEO of C.V. Starr & Co. Inc. the Yale Center Beijing is pleased to host the Greenberg Distinguished Colloquium, which will convene thought leaders from all sectors who, in the spirit of Mr. Greenberg, play pivotal roles in building bridges among China, the U.S., and the rest of the world.

Mr. Greenberg has been a member of Yale Center Beijing’s Executive Council and retired as the Chairman and CEO of American International Group (AIG). In 2018, he was awarded the China Reform Friendship Medal.
