The Event

Studying abroad in the US may give a different perspective to Chinese students to grow mentally, socially and professionally, and return to China with a different perspective of the world.

We invited the President of AmCham China, three officers from U.S. Embassy, and Managing Director of Yale Center Beijing to exchange views on the mission of higher education, the procession of preparing to study abroad, and how to leverage the experience abroad for furture career. Please join us for a discussion on studying abroad in the US on April 25 at Yale Center Beijing.

The Panelists

Alan Beebe (MA '91)
President & AmCham China

Alan Beebe holds a Master’s degree from Yale University in International Relations. He is also a Board of Member of the Yale Club of Beijing and in that capacity promotes academic and cultural exchanges between the United States and China. He has twenty years of management consulting experience in the US, China and other Asian countries helping clients develop and implement sound business, operations and technology strategies.

Carol Li Rafferty ('00)
Managing Director & The Yale Center Beijing

Ms. Carol Li Rafferty is the Managing Director of Yale Center Beijing. She graduated cum laude from Yale University, with dual B.A. degrees in Economics and International Studies. She received her J.D. degree from Stanford Law School. She is also a China Fellow of the Aspen Institute. In 2016, the World Economic Forum (WEF) selected Carol as a Young Global Leader (YGL), and she currently serves as a member of the YGL Advisory Group, the YGL’s global advisory board.
