The Event

Innovation, technology, and changes in the world’s economic climate have transformed the future of work. On January 18, experts in human resources and talent management will convene at Yale Center Beijing to analyze trends in the Chinese job market and share insights on how high-potential emerging leaders can best position themselves for career success.

The Panelists

Michelle Wang
Talent Officer, Bain & Company

Michelle Wang currently serves as Talent Officer at Bain & Company, responsible for Professional Development and Staffing of Consultants in Greater China. After graduating from Yale SOM, Michelle joined Bain in 2012. Since then, she has worked with leading Industrial Goods clients on issues of strategy, customer centricity, route-to-market, and Results Delivery. She subsequently focused on developing expertise in organization engagement and change management. She is passionate about people development and hopes to unlock the WAY for individuals to THRIVE, not just SUCCEED.

Yu Zhang
CFO, Boss Zhipin

Yu Zhang is currently CFO of Boss Zhipin, which is one of China’s most popular online recruitment platform. Prior to that, he was Managing Director, Deputy Portfolio Manager and TMT analyst at UBS Asset Management in Hong Kong. He was a key member of UBS AM’s Global Emerging Markets and Asia Pacific Equities team and was responsible for investment analysis of China/Hong Kong equities. Yu also had six years of investment consulting experience where he helped many top-tier hedge funds and PE funds make successful investments in China. He also worked at the telecom company Ericsson for four years.

Cathy Liu
Head of Operating Excellence team, Hillhouse Capital

Cathy Liu, currently the Head of Operational Excellence at Hillhouse Capital, is responsible for talent acquisition, development and retention across private equity, hedge fund, venture capital and corporate functions. Cathy joined Hillhouse in 2017. Prior to that, she worked at Kraft Heinz, a Fortune 500 company which was later acquired by 3G Capital, where she served as Head of APAC M&A and subsequently Head of China Sales Operations. Cathy graduated from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2015. Before pursuing her MBA, she was on JPMorgan’s private equity investment team in Hong Kong.

The Moderator

Joyce Wang
Deputy Director, Yale Center Beijing

Joyce is the Deputy Director of Yale Center Beijing. Since 2003, she has worked at non-profit organizations in the fields of education, philanthropy and public health. Before joining Yale Center Beijing, she was Operations Manager at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Senior HR & Administrative Officer at FHI 360 (formerly Family Health International), where she was a founding member at both organizations. Joyce is an experienced leader focusing on HR management, leadership development and business strategy management. She holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Peking University.
