The Event
The "World Mental Health Report" reveals that nearly one billion people globally had mental disorders in 2019, with 350 million experiencing depression. In China, 95 million people were reported to have depression in 2022. Despite the prevalence of unhappiness, media personality Yang Lan introduced the concept of "Happiness Quotient" in 2009, emphasizing the ability to discover, perceive, create, and share happiness. In her upcoming talk at the Yale Center Beijing on December 2, she will share insights on attaining happiness from her latest book Happiness Quotient and discuss how to cultivate one's happiness quotient in challenging moments.

Yang Lan
Chairperson, Sun Media Group
Yang Lan is a household name in China, as a leading broadcast journalist and media entrepreneur. She is the chairperson of Sun Media Group. Her signature program "Yang Lan One on One" has interviewed more than 1,000 movers and shakers around the world. She founded Her Village Media and Education Group, a platform reaching tens of millions for women’s empowerment and gender equality.
Ms. Yang is the only person to have represented Beijing twice for its successful Olympic biddings. She was named as a Goodwill Ambassador for the 2010 Shanghai Expo and is a Global Ambassador and International Board Member for the Special Olympics Movement and the Vice-Chairman of China Charity Alliance. She has also been honored with many awards, including being selected as one of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women by Forbes.
