The Event

On December 29, 2023, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China announced the amended Company Law of China. The law was passed on the 30th anniversary of the first Company Law adopted in 1993 and will come into effect on July 1, 2024. On May 24, Lawyer Shiwei Zhang, who has long been dedicated to the practice and research of corporate and securities law, will provide in-depth insights into the practical operation and the institutional spirit of the new Company Law.

With over 20 years of practical experience in corporate and securities law, including PE/VC investment & financing, merger and acquisition (M&A), and IPO, Shiwei Zhang has counseled on numerous renowned transactions, such as the joint acquisition of McDonald's Great China by CITIC and Carlyle Group, the IPO of the first state-owned enterprise on STAR Market of the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the private financing of SenseTime Technology. Recently, he has been focusing on serving high-tech startup companies in equity structuring, financing, and M&A.

Mr. Zhang has been honored as the "Top M&A Lawyer of the Year" by The Asian Lawyer, "Top Private Equity Deal" by International Financial Law Review and"Top 15 M&A Lawyers in Asia" by Asian Legal Business.

Peilin Jia '96
Co-founder, IOH

Peilin Jia worked as a consultant at McKinsey from 2000 through 2002, and joined Jones Day as a capital markets lawyer from 2004 through 2007. She joined Macquarie Capital’s corporate finance department from 2007 through 2010 and participated in the Hong Kong IPOs of China Merchants Bank, Minsheng Bank, Agricultural Bank of China, and Huaneng Renewables. She acted as advisor to KraneShare’s MSCI 100 China ETF and managed a consumer loan fund from 2011 through 2017. She joined CreditEase’s fund of fund division in 2018, mainly responsible for investment in venture capital funds and fundraising. Peilin is currently a co-founder of IOH Technology in Beijing.
