The Event
On March 24, Ambassador Kurt Tong, a renowned U.S. diplomat and expert in East Asian affairs, will join Yale Center Beijing to discuss the trajectory of U.S.-China relations in the Trump 2.0 era, with a special focus on "Three Ts"—tariffs, technology, and transactions. He will also engage in a conversation with George Chen, Yale World Fellow '14, and take questions from the audience.

Managing Partner, The Asia Group
Ambassador Kurt Tong is a leading expert in East Asian diplomacy and economic affairs, with 30 years of experience as Ambassador for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Consul General and Chief of Mission in Hong Kong and Macau, among other key roles. He holds a B.A. from Princeton University and is currently an Adjunct Professor of Asian Studies at Georgetown University.

George Chen is a practitioner/scholar with over two decades of expertise across media, technology, and public policy. Prior to the Asia Group, he was Meta’s (Facebook) first-ever and most senior policy leader for Greater China, Mongolia, and Central Asia. Earlier in his career, George held various editorial and management roles at leading media organizations, including the South China Morning Post and Reuters. In 2014, George was appointed a Yale World Fellow.
