The Event

On April 15, Volker Leppin, the Horace Tracy Pitkin Professor of Historical Theology at Yale University (online), will discuss his latest scholarly work, Francis of Assisi: The Life of a Restless Saint, with Qiuling Li, Professor of School of Philosophy at Renmin University of China (onsite), moderated by Ruorong Xu, a lecturer of the School of Philosophy at Shaanxi Normal University (onsite).

Volker Leppin (Online)
Horace Tracy Pitkin Professor of Historical Theology, Yale University

Volker Leppin is a distinguished scholar specializing in medieval and Reformation studies, with a particular focus on the history of spirituality. Before joining Yale in 2021, he spent over two decades teaching Church history at various universities in Germany and Switzerland. He is the author of 20 monographs, including Martin Luther: A Late Medieval Life, with most of his works published in German.

Qiuling Li (Onsite)
Professor, School of Philosophy, Renmin University of China

Qiuling Li is a professor at the School of Philosophy at Renmin University of China. His primary research areas include German classical philosophy. He has been involved in the field of philosophy education at Chinese universities for 37 years. He has authored numerous academic monographs including History in the Perspective of German Philosopher. He has also translated over 50 Western academic classics, including The Complete Works of Immanuel Kant (9 volumes), as well as dozens of scholarly articles.

Ruorong Xu (Onsite)
Lecturer, School of Philosophy, Shaanxi Normal University

Ruorong Xu has been a lecturer of the School of Philosophy at Shaanxi Normal University since 2024. She holds a PhD in Philosophy from Renmin University of China and was a jointly trained doctoral researcher at the University of Tübingen, Germany. Her research focuses on medieval philosophy, Renaissance philosophy, and Reformation thought.
