Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping industries worldwide. By integrating into traditional sectors such as finance, healthcare, manufacturing, and education, AI is boosting productivity, enabling new business models, and transforming user experiences.
On August 27, Marshall Van Alstyne ’84, Allen and Kelli Questrom Professor in Information Systems at Boston University; Jie Lin PhD ’04, COO of Shinho Group; Hang Yin PhD ’04, Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Tsinghua University; Martin Ma PhD ’07, Founder and CEO of Happy Universe; Lu Zhang, Founder and Managing Partner of Fusion Fund; and moderator Peilin Jia ’96, Partner at ORH Partners, will join together to explore how AI is driving industrial reinvention. They will share insights on cutting-edge AI applications, emerging trends, and the future of AI-enabled transformation.

Jie Lin PhD ’04
COO, Shinho Group
Jie Lin is an expert in Omni-channel retail and digitization and currently serves as COO of Shinho Group. Previously, he served as the Founder and CEO of Jian 24, a pioneered unattended convenience store player; Co-Founder and CEO of Dmall, a leading omni-channel retail service provider; Vice President of Strategy for JD.com and President of JD Research Institute; Vice President of Tecent Ecommerce Group and Consultant of Boston Consulting Group. He graduated from the Department of Physics at Fudan University and earned his PhD from Yale University.

Hang Yin PhD ’04
Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Tsinghua University
Hang Yin is a Professor and former Deputy Dean of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Tsinghua University. Prior to joining Tsinghua, he was a tenured faculty member at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research interests include the interface of chemistry, biology, and engineering with particular focuses on AI drug design, extracellular vesicles, cell signaling biochemistry, and biotechnology development. He holds a bachelor's degree from Peking University and a PhD from Yale University.

Marshall Van Alstyne ’84
Allen and Kelli Questrom Professor in Information Systems, Boston University
Marshall Van Alstyne is one of the world’s foremost experts on network business models and co-author of the international bestseller Platform Revolution. His research in information economics covers platform economics, intellectual property, speech markets, the social effects of technology, and productivity effects of information, placing him among the top two percent of scientists worldwide.
He holds two patents and has received numerous National Science Foundation awards. His work has appeared in Science, Nature, Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal.

Martin Ma PhD ’07
Founder and CEO, Happy Universe
Martin Ma is the Founder and CEO of Happy Universe. He helped many startups and multinational companies in their digital/AI transformation and globalization. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Tsinghua University and a PhD in Computer Science from Yale University. He is also a Yale Graduate School Alumni Association Board member for 2024-2027.

Lu Zhang
Founder & Managing Partner, Fusion Fund
Lu Zhang, Founder and Managing Partner of Fusion Fund, is a renowned Silicon Valley-based investor, serial entrepreneur, and Stanford Engineering alumna. She has extensive experience in commercializing emerging technologies, with deep expertise in AI in healthcare, edge computing, and data privacy.
Her honors include being named a Young Global Leader by World Economic Forum (Davos), Silicon Valley Women of Influence 2018, Best 25 Female Early-Stage Investor of 2021 by Business Insider, Forbes 30 Under 30 (Venture Capital category) and Town & Country 50 Modern Swans - Entrepreneurship Influencer.

Peilin Jia ’96
Partner, ORH Partners
Peilin Jia is a partner at ORH Partners, a Silicon Valley-based VC fund. Her career spans notable roles at McKinsey, Jones Day, and Macquarie Capital, where she contributed to the Hong Kong IPOs of major firms such as China Merchants Bank, Minsheng Bank, Agricultural Bank of China, and Huaneng Renewables. She also advised KraneShare’s MSCI 100 China ETF and managed a consumer loan fund from 2011 through 2017. In 2018, she joined CreditEase, focusing on venture capital investments and fundraising.
