The Event

In July 2025, Juanzong Books, in collaboration with Jingqiu Zhang MED ’19, Lubin Liu, and Isaac Landeros, presented the special exhibition Design for the People. Through ten letters addressed to communities across the world, the exhibition linked design to lived realities—from  sanitation needs for refugee children, to housing for the homeless people in Hawaii, to revitalization efforts for disappearing villages. Together, these global practices explored a fundamental question: Who is Design For?

As an extension of the exhibition, the forum Everyone Matters will take place at Yale Center Beijing on October 11. Moving beyond grand narratives, it focuses on individual lives—overlooked needs, unspoken struggles, and resilient daily routines. Here, design is presented as a vital force that completes life and comforts the human spirit. Practitioners from architecture, sociology, film, and media will engage in cross-disciplinary dialogue, exploring design as a systemic practice that connects people and responds to life’s realities. Join this conversation—to see the overlooked individual and to rebuild faith in design through shared action.
