The Event
In an era of rapid AI development, a pressing question for educators and parents is what knowledge should be taught and what capabilities next generation will need. On March 21, alumni educators from leading schools will gather at Yale Center Beijing to discuss K-12 education in the AI era, and explore how parents and educators can help the next generation grow and navigate uncertainty in a rapidly changing world.

Carol Rafferty ’00
Director, Yale Center Beijing
Assistant Dean, Yale School of Management
Carol Rafferty is Assistant Dean at the Yale School of Management and Managing Director of Yale Center Beijing, Yale University’s convening and intellectual hub in China. She currently serves on the board of directors of JD.com. She is also a co-founder of Lean In China, an organization that has grown into a network of over 100,000 women. Carol previously worked in finance and law, including for China Investment Corporation (CIC), the country’s sovereign wealth fund. In 2016, the World Economic Forum (WEF) selected Carol as a Young Global Leader (YGL). Carol graduated cum laude from Yale University, with dual B.A. degrees in Economics and International Studies. She received her J.D. degree from Stanford Law School.

Rae Yang ’07
Assistant Head of School for School Affairs, Keystone Academy in Beijing
Rae Yang currently serves as Assistant Head of School for School Affairs at Keystone Academy. She is an experienced education professional, a scholar of adolescent psychology, and a certified mental health counsellor. She also serves as an Executive Council Member of the Society for the History and Culture of Statistics and is a member of the U.S. National Psychology Honor Society, having participated in several international and domestic research projects. Rae graduated cum laude from Yale University with a B.A. degree in Psychology and earned her master's degree in Developmental Psychology from Brown University.

Brian Yang PhD ’11
Executive Principal, Beijing Huijia Private School
Brian Yang has diverse experience in academia, management consulting, and school leadership. Before entering the K-12 education sector, he worked at McKinsey & Company in its US and China offices. He later joined a global innovative school, leading the development of its innovative PBL (Project-based Learning) curriculum, and was responsible for the academic management at its Shenzhen campus. In recent years, Brian has served as principal of IB (International Baccalaureate) schools in Beijing. He received his bachelor’s degree from Peking University and his master’s and PhD in Physics from Yale University.

Yue Zhao
Head of International Curriculum Center, The High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China
Yue Zhao is Head of International Curriculum Center at the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China. She teaches IB (International Baccalaureate) Literature and serves as a supervisor for IB CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) and EE (Extended Essay) programs. She has developed and taught specialized courses including Drama Appreciation, Introduction to Chinese NLP (Natural Language Processing), and Linguistics and Linguistics Olympiads. She has also published numerous commentary articles in the Commentary section of the People's Daily. Yue Zhao holds a double bachelor's degree in Chinese Language and Literature and Economics, and a master's degree in Chinese Linguistics and Philology, all from Peking University.

Helen Sun is currently the Investor Relations (IR) Director of ECC Capital. With two decades of experience in the technology sector, She worked at Baidu, Huawei and its subsidiaries for many years. Her roles encompassed strategic planning, industry research, product and operations management, process transformation and quality management. She holds degrees from Yale University and Renmin University of China.
