The Event

Please join us at the Yale SOM Reception in Beijing, where you will have the opportunity to learn more about the unique advantages of a Yale MBA. The evening will feature a talk by Dean Edward Snyder along with the opportunity to meet an admissions officer and network with Yale SOM alumni.

The Speakers

Dean Edward A. Snyder

Edward A. Snyder is Dean and William S. Beinecke Professor of Economics and Management at the Yale School of Management. As Dean, he has overall responsibility for the school’s academic programs, for enhancing its reputation, and for strengthening its finances. During his tenure at Yale, the school has (i) developed the first global network of top business schools, (ii) introduced its Master of Advanced Management degree for graduates of the Global Network for Advanced Management, (iii) implemented a new, required Leadership Development Program for all Master’s students, and (iv) forged stronger programmatic relationships with other Yale professional schools.

Mr. Snyder began his professional career as an economist with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division. He earned a PhD in Economics and an MA in Public Policy from the University of Chicago. He began his academic career at the University of Michigan. Previously, Mr. Snyder was the Dean and George Shultz Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Maria Derlipanska

Maria Derlipanska is Associate Director of Admissions at the Yale School of Management. She received a BA in Art History from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a PhD in Italian Language and Literature in 2008 from Yale. Her interest in instructional technologies that support interdisciplinary studies in the humanities led to her involvement in Open Yale Courses. Due to a long-standing academic interest in the cultural and intellectual exchanges between East and West, she has extensively traveled throughout the Middle East, studying in Cairo, Egypt and teaching in Doha, Qatar.

She joined Yale SOM in 2014 and currently oversees the Silver Scholars Program as well as the Joint-Degree Program that the Yale School of Management has with the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs and seven professional schools, such as Yale Law School, the School of Public Health, the School of Architecture, Yale School of Medicine and others.
