The Event

To help Americans better understand the complex U.S.-China relationship, the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations is conducting the tenth annual CHINA Town Hall: Local Connections, National Reflections at more than 70 locations nationwide. The program held at Yale Center Beijing will feature a webcast discussion with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, moderated by National Committee President Stephen Orlins. After the webcast, David Rank, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in China, will provide keynote remarks and lead an off-the-record panel discussion on the future of U.S.-China relations with leaders from business and society.

The Speaker

Dr. Henry A. Kissinger
Former Secretary of State

Henry Alfred Kissinger served as the 56th U.S. Secretary of State from 1973 to 1977. He also served as Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs. At present, Dr. Kissinger is Chairman of Kissinger Associates, Inc., an international consulting firm. Dr. Kissinger was born in Germany and came to the United States in 1938. He graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College in 1950 and received M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard University in 1952 and 1954. In 2012, Dr. Kissinger donated his papers to Yale University. The collection consists of approximately one million documents and objects covering Dr. Kissinger’s extraordinary life as a diplomat, scholar, teacher, and private citizen.
