With the increasing public awareness of healthcare and preventive care, what are the opportunities for healthcare service providers such as third-party medical checkup platforms, and specialists’ services such as dentists’ and ophthalmologists’? What new industries and business models may national initiatives on healthy lifestyle give birth to? How should the capital markets lay out strategically and proactively in order to explore the various opportunities coming along with the upgrading? And how will the regional disparities within China affect the development strategy of healthcare service chains? Please join us for a discussion with a panel of industry experts and practitioners.

The Speakers

Michael Shao
Chairman, Malo Clinic China

Mr. Michael Shao currently serves as the Chairman of Malo Clinic China; CEO of Ivybaby Co., Ltd.; CEO of Shanghai Taives Health Co., Ltd.; and Chairman of Zhilue Investment Co., Ltd. He entered medical investment in 2007 and founded Shanghai Zhilue Investment Co., Ltd. and Beijing Anping Investment Co., Ltd. in 2009. With close partnership with specialty hospitals, Mr. Shao has built up expertise in their marketization. In 2011, he invested in Shanghai Taives Health Co., Ltd., focusing on developing the health management industry. In 2013, he founded Malo Clinic China, which is dedicated to developing dental clinic chain in China. In 2014, he established Ivybaby Co., Ltd., experimenting new pediatric services by combining online app (Yu Xue Yuan) with offline pediatric clinics.

Eric Wu

Mr. Eric Wu is partner of Highlight Capital. He has over 15 years' working experience in healthcare and financial management areas. Before joining Highlight Capital, he served as Principal in KKR and VP in CDH Investment. Mr. Wu also worked in Avenue Capital and KPMG, focusing on healthcare and consumer industries; he has lead and participated in several deals in healthcare and education, including Kanghong Pharma (002773) and New Eye Medical (430140). Mr. Wu holds a B.S. degree from Fudan University and a Master’s degree in Finance from London Business School.

Mr. Sean Huang is Managing Director at Riverhead Capital, responsible for the investment and fund management in health care and emerging sectors. Mr. Huang has over 10 years’ experience in private equity, past deals including Mindray, Ruipeng Pet Healthcare, Sensetime, Qing Cloud, EcoFarm, PRP Diagnostic Imaging, Venturepharma, Jintian Pharmaceutical and Dajin Heavy Industries. Mr. Huang has previously worked for CITIC Securities, CVC Capital, CRCI Capital and PwC. Mr. Huang holds an MBA from Yale University and a BA from Peking University.

Mr. Sui joined CHG in July, 2016, and currently serves as president. Previously he was director and vice president of PKU pharmaceutical company, director and general manager of PKU Cancer Hospital Management Company, president and general manager of Canaan Clinic, co-head of investment banking committee in healthcare at CITIC Securities, and senior consultant in medicine at McKinsey. He also has worked for Johnson & Johnson and Bayer. Mr. Sui was a postdoc in Surgical Pathology at Johns Hopkins University, where he gained a Master’s degree in Public Health. He also holds a Doctor’s degree of Medicine from Peking University Health Science Center.

Dr. Dongcheng (Peter) Lu has more than twenty years’ experience in life science sector. He currently serves as the Founding & Managing Partner of New Vision Ventures LLC. (NVV). Previously, he was partner of Infinity Group, China head of Toucan Capital (U.S.A), and research scientist at Yale School of Medicine. He has led more than 30 investments in life science sector. Dr. Lu is a cardiologist with eight years’ clinical experience. He obtained his MD from Peking University and MBA from Yale School of Management.
