The Event
Please join us for an afternoon of spectacular music for strings, including duo and trio works by Bartok, Beethoven and Dohnanyi. The trio brings together three Yale graduates, expert chamber musicians all, Wesley Baldwin, Geoffrey Herd, and Shawn Moore. Please join us for the musical conversation that is chamber music!

The Performers
Shawn Moore (Yale School of Music ’13)
Violist, Musician in Residence for the Yale Club of Beijing
A keen chamber musician, Shawn was a founding member of the Kalmia String Quartet, which performed and recorded numerous works by American composer Joseph Summer, and can be heard on Parma and Albany Records. As a solo artist, Shawn makes regular appearances at the Geneva Music Festival and the Bard Music Festival, concerts and music festivals in China, Korea and Thailand, and other engagements throughout the world. As an admissions officer for Bard College, Shawn has had firsthand experience of the challenges associated with providing access to quality education, musical and otherwise. A graduate of Bard College and Yale University, Shawn holds degrees in both music and Asian Studies, and speaks Mandarin and Korean.
Wesley Baldwin (Yale College ’87)
Cellist, Professor of Cello at the University of Tennessee
Wesley Baldwin serves as Professor of Cello at the University of Tennessee. He has appeared as cello soloist with the Laredo Philharmonic, Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestras, among others. In the summers he performs and teaches at the Michigan City Chamber Music Festival, the ARIA International Academy, the Cincinnati Young Artists Cello Workshop, and at the Wintergreen Festival, where he holds the Leonard Rose Memorial chair as principal cellist of the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra, and serves as both Assistant Director and cello faculty member of the Wintergreen Summer Music Academy. Wesley Baldwin holds a BA, cum laude, from Yale College, a Master of Music degree, with honors, from the New England Conservatory, and a DMA from the University of Maryland.
Geoffrey Herd
Violinist
Violinist Geoffrey Herd has given performances in the United States, Latin America and Asia, and is frequently sought after as recitalist and chamber musician. An avid chamber musician, Mr. Herd has collaborated with some of the finest musicians of our time including Ani Kavafian, Clive Greensmith, James Dunham and Laurie Smukler. A frequent soloist, Herd has performed concertos with numerous orchestras including the Rochester Philharmonic, the Thailand Philharmonic, the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, the Ithaca College Symphony. Mr. Herd joined the faculty at the University of Tennessee in August 2016 where he has built a thriving studio, attracting students from around the globe.
