The Event

The future of smart vehicle is the product of the deep integration of the automotive industry and the next generation of information technologies like artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and high-performance computing. Smart vehicle is the main direction of the development of intelligent transportation. What changes will the future intelligent car bring to our daily travel? What are the latest opportunities and challenges for car companies? Three experts will join this forum and share their views and opinions about the future of the car.

Charles CHENG
Co-President, BYTON

Charles Cheng has joined BYTON since January 2018 as Co-President. He leads BYTON’s initiatives in Capital Markets, Corporate Finance, and Investor Relations. Charles is a seasoned investment banker with over 20 years of cross-cultural management experience in investment and corporate finance in Asia, Europe and North America.

Prior to BYTON, Charles served as Senior Managing Director at Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs China, and Chief Executive Officer at Investment Banking China of Standard Chartered Bank. Before that, he held senior positions at Bank One, Toronto-Dominion Bank, Alexander Proudfoot Management Consulting, MetLife and Peugeot Automobile.

Charles earned a master in Ergonomics from University of Paris and an MBA from HEC Paris. Charles is a member of HEC Paris International Advisory Board, Chairman of Beijing Alumni Association of HEC, and Executive Director of the Committee (2005).

Dr. Jie LI
Executive Vice President, Government Affairs & Alliance Office, Jaguar Land Rover (China) Ltd.

Jie Li graduated with a master degree from the Beijing University of Foreign Studies in 1985 and obtained his Doctor degree at the University of Tuebingen in Germany in 1991. With an academic record of several years as lecturer and assistant professor at some universities in US and Germany, he successfully finished his professorship qualification (Habilitation) at the University of Saarland in Germany in 2000, where he spent almost 5 years as lecturer.

In 1997, Jie Li joined Daimler AG, a world leading automobile company, in Stuttgart, Germany and went through different positions and stations. In 2003, he was appointed as the Head of External Affairs & Public Policy at Daimler Greater China Ltd. based in Beijing, China. In 2017 he joined Jaguar Land Rover China Ltd. as Executive Vice President responsible for Government Affairs & Alliance Office.

ZHUANG Li
NIO Vice President, Software Development, China

Li Zhuang received BA and MA in Computer Science from Tsinghua University in 2000 and 2002 respectively. In 2008, she obtained a Ph. D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and her thesis on computer security was reported by over a hundred mainstream American media, including CNN. During her Ph. D. studies at UC Berkeley, she co-founded NetEase Youdao. Also, she once served as a researcher at Microsoft, director of Personalized Recommendation Department of Yahoo Institute (Beijing), as well as chief product architect and vice president of engineering at Cheetah Mobile.

Currently, she serves as the vice president of NIO Software Development (China) and in charge of vehicle software development, devoting in creating electric, intelligent and networked future vehicles, thereby bringing users with unparalleled driving experience and a joyful lifestyle.

Founder and CEO, Happy Universe

Dr. Martin Ma is founder and CEO of Happy Universe, a startup using AI and big data to help developers to do cross border mobile app publishing. Dr. Ma holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Tsinghua University and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Yale University.
