The Event

With the advent of AI and big data, what will education look like in the future? What type of education will be needed to produce the leaders of tomorrow?
On October 20, leading scientists and education innovators including Tian Xu, Vice President of Westlake University and the former Vice Chair of Genetics at Yale University, will engage in a multidimensional discussion on the future of education. You, as participants, are invited to fully engage in the dialogue.

The Speakers

Fengqiao Yan
Dean & Graduate School of Education, Peking University

Dr. Fengqiao Yan is Dean of the Graduate School of Education at Peking University, and was principal investigator of several research projects sponsored by the World Bank, Ford Foundation, and the Chinese government. His major academic areas of interest include organization and institution in higher education, private education and private higher education, and the academic profession. He is the author of “Organization and Governance of University.”

Richard Holman
Dean & Division of Computer Sciences and Business, Minerva

Dr. Richard Holman, Dean of the Division of Computer Sciences and Business at Minerva and former professor of physics at Carnegie Mellon University, is mainly interested in the interface between particle physics and cosmology. One of the brightest spots in Holman’s career has been his interactions with students at all levels.

Sen Song
Principal Investigator& Department of Biomedical Engineering, Tsinghua University

Dr. Sen Song is a Principal Investigator at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Tsinghua University. He was a post-doctoral researcher at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His current work involves computational neuroscience, neural circuits underlying emotions and motivations, and the interface between neuroscience and artificial intelligence.

Huazhang Shen
CEO & ETU Education

Huazhang Shen is CEO of ETU Eduaction and also a co-founder of GeoWok and Kalading with extensive experience in strategy, marketing, product development, and technology. He is a graduate of the China University of Science and Technology and the California Institute of Technology.

Ivy Guo
Founder & CEO & Qiyuan EdTech

Ivy Guo introduced and translated the book The ABCs of How We Learn into Chinese. She is a founding member and leader of the Learning Experience Design of Tsinghua University Lab for Lifelong Learning. She serves as the Secretary General of the Stanford Club of Beijing.

Dun Xiao
Co-founder & 17 Education & Technology Group

Dun Xiao was involved in organizing the Beijing and London Olympic and Paralympic Games, and was a derivatives trader at UBS. Dun holds a Masters of Science in Electrical and Information Engineering from Cambridge University and a Masters of Science in Decision Analysis from Minerva Schools at KGI.

Shucao Mo
Regional Manager (East Asia and Oceania)& Minerva Schools

Shucao Mo is the Regional Manager of East Asia and Oceania for Minerva Schools at KGI. She was a public art curriculum coordinator at The Center for Arts Education. She has presented her writing on Rousseauian educational philosophy at the Northeastern Political Science Association Conference. She received an Ed.M. in Arts in Education from Harvard University and a B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science from Duke University.
