The Event

As World Stroke Day approaches, join us virtually on October 29 to learn about the characteristics, treatments, and prevention of cardiovascular disease. Two scientists at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Zhenqiu Lin and Dr. Yuan Lu, will discuss findings from China PEACE (Patient-Centered Evaluative Assessment of Cardiac Events), a collaborative population-based cohort study by Yale and China covering all 31 provinces in mainland China, and share insights from their experiences in both the United States and China.

Zhenqiu Lin

Senior Research Scientist, Yale School of Medicine

Senior Director of Healthcare Analytics, Yale-New Haven Hospital Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE)

Zhenqiu Lin, PhD, is Senior Director of Healthcare Analytics at the Yale-New Haven Hospital Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) and Senior Research Scientist at Yale School of Medicine. He received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Peking University and his PhD from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. His interests focus on developing quality of care measures to evaluate healthcare provider performance and advancing measurement sciences. He has led the development of many quality measures that cover different care settings including hospitals, hospital outpatient department, ambulatory surgical center, accountable care organization, eligible clinician, and group practice. Most of these measures have been endorsed by National Quality Forum and are now publicly reported by CMS. He is a member of the Scientific Methods Panel of the National Quality Forum.

Yuan Lu

Assistant Professor, Yale School of Medicine

Dr. Lu was trained in epidemiology and global health, with a particular focus on cardiovascular diseases. She obtained both her ScD and MSc degrees in Global Health and Population at the Harvard School of Public Health. Her long-term goal is to improve care, outcomes, and equity of cardiovascular diseases by designing and implementing technology-based interventions.

Dr. Lu successfully completed an NHLBI K12 career development award in implementation science. During this award, she harnessed electronic health records from the Yale-New Haven Health System to identify patients with persistent hypertension and designed decision support systems to improve their care. She has also engaged in groundbreaking collaborative projects between Yale University and the Chinese National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases in Beijing. These include the Millions Persons Project that assembles remarkable population health and biomedical resources from 5 million individuals across China. Moreover, she has collaborated with the NCD Risk Factor Collaboration (NCD-RisC) on global analyses examining the impact of risk factors on the worldwide burden of cardiovascular diseases.

She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, including first author articles in leading journals such as The LancetJAMACirculation, and BMJ, and her work has been cited more than 40,000 times.
