The Event

The documentary film AI LA explores the societal impact of AI from the perspective of an AI engineer. The film tells the story of an experienced Silicon Valley engineer who has dedicated his life to Artificial Intelligence (AI) for over a decade. Feeling confused and concerned about his future after realizing the rapid evolution of AI, and in order to find his potential in nature, he joins an international trekking expedition through the mysterious Caucasus region. Being inspired and protected by Natural Intelligence, he starts a new AI journey exploring China, the UK, and the US.

Filmed over a period of 5 years in 5 countries, this film garnered the attention of eminent scientists, authoritative scholars, and sociologists from prestigious institutions such as Oxford, MIT, and Stanford. It focuses deeply on the effects of AI on ordinary individuals and advocates for the development of safe AI in the global AI community. On November 16, 2023, this film stood out from among 254 films from 122 countries at the Brano AI Film Festival, the first AI film festival in Italy held in Venice. As the sole representative from China, it claimed two prestigious awards, "Best Documentary" and "Best AI Ethics Film," surpassing all other entries. It went on to make history as the official opening film of the inaugural Brano AI Film Festival.

On January 10, this film will be screened at Yale Center Beijing with its director Carlo Christian Spano and producer Yang Zhao in attendance for an ensuing discussion with the audience.
