How should financial institutions deal with "Economic, Financial, and Debt Issues from a Postmodern Perspective and with an Innovative Economic Framework?" On January 20, 2024, Dr. Jian Gao, former Executive Vice Governor of China Development Bank, will discuss the topic at Yale Center Beijing, sharing advanced insights to enhance financial professionals' understanding of macroeconomic conditions and financial markets.

Former Executive Vice Governor, China Development Bank

Dr. Jian Gao is a senior economist, founder of China’s debt capital market, and former Executive Vice Governor of China Development Bank. Dr. Gao held a number of important positions at the Ministry of Finance between 1982 and 1998, including the Director General of the Department of State Debt Administration and Director General of the Department of Laws and Regulations. He made great contributions to the investment, financing, and Go-Globe business of CDB during his career in CDB between 1998 and 2012. He was named as one of the ten stars of great contributors to China’s capital market by Asiamoney in 2003. Dr. Gao is a pioneer of China’s fund industry, having laid the ground work of CDB Capital, and was also the Founding Chairman of China-Africa Development Fund, Vice Chairman of China-Italy Mandarin Capital, Chairman of Chinese Manufacturing Industry Fund, and Chairman of CDB securities.

Dr. Gao Jian graduated with a Doctorate in Finance from the Institute of Financial Science of the Ministry of Finance and completed post-doctoral studies in the Department of Economics at Harvard University in 1998. He was a visiting scholar in the Department of Economics at Harvard University from January 2013 to December 2014. He has also been active in the academic arena, writing 11 books, including Debt Capital Market in China, China Bonds Market, and Overview of General Finance, among others.
