Join us on May 31 for a discussion on "China as the Next Japan?" This event brings together renowned economist Stephen Roach and Chairman of Yale Law School Association of China Victor Gao MA '90, JD '93. This event is exclusively for Yale alumni and their friends.

Stephen Roach
Senior Fellow of Paul Tsai China Center, Yale Law School

Stephen Roach has been a senior fellow at Yale University since 2010 where he developed new courses on Asia, notably "The Next China" and "The Lessons of Japan." Prior to moving to academia, he spent thirty years at Morgan Stanley, where for the bulk of his career he served as the firm′s chief economist, heading up a highly regarded team of economists around the world. He holds a PhD in economics from New York University and was a research fellow at the Brookings Institution.

Victor Gao MA '90, JD '93
Chairman, Yale Law School Association of China

Victor Gao is Chairman of the Yale Law School Association of China, Chair Professor of Soochow University, Vice President of the Center for China and Globalization, and Advisor of Saudi Aramco. He served in the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an English Interpreter to the Second Generation of Chinese Leadership. Gao has extensive experience in legal practice, investment banking, private equity, securities regulation, and corporate management, and is frequently interviewed by major Chinese and global media networks on domestic and international affairs. He holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Yale Law School and is admitted to the Bar of New York State.
