The Event

How can private entrepreneurs in China address the challenges of intergenerational inheritance while creating, protecting, and transferring value effectively? On January 9, Hao Gao, Associate Dean of the Institute of Philanthropy at Tsinghua University, Sally Shan, Co-founder and Chairman of AspenBridge Advisory, and Chenghong Jiang, Senior Partner of Far East Holding Group, will explore the latest developments of family offices across China and the world, discussing future-oriented development paths and governance models.

Associate Dean, Institute of Philanthropy, Tsinghua University
Director, Research Center for Global Family Business, Tsinghua University

Hao Gao is an Associate Dean at the Institute of Philanthropy at Tsinghua University, the Director of the Research Center for Global Family Business and Associate Director of the Research Center for Green Finance at Tsinghua University’s PBC School of Finance. He is a member of Global Future Councils of World Economic Forum (WEF), a research council member of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and a board member and research fellow of China Enterprise Reform and Development Society (CERDS). He earned his Ph.D. degree in management and completed two post-doctorates in finance and economics from Tsinghua University, and received his bachelor degree in economics from Peking University. He also holds a Harvard Business School Corporate Director Certificate and a Temasek Fellowship from Singapore's Wealth Management Institute.

Sally Shan MBA ’97
Co-Founder & Chairman, AspenBridge Advisory

Sally Shan is the Co-Founder and Chairman of AspenBridge Advisory. She was Head of China at HarbourVest Partners from 2012 to 2024, where she built the private equity investment and fundraising platform. Previously, she served in the Global Technology Investment Banking Group of Lehman Brothers in Silicon Valley and New York for ten years and she also served as Managing Director and Head of Asia Technology Investment Banking at JPMorgan. She received a BS in economics from the Renmin University of China in 1992 and an MBA from Yale School of Management in 1997.

Chenghong Jiang founded Far East Electric Co., Ltd. in 2021, and established Beijing Xinyu Technology Co., Ltd., and Beijing Bit Oasis Technology Co., Ltd., focusing on the realm of AI, where he built a comprehensive team from scratch, capable of covering multiple fields including rendering engines, artificial intelligence, big data, and the metaverse. He received a Master's degree  from Washington University in St. Louis, a Bachelor’s of Economics from Nanjing University, and an EMBA from the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University.

Helen Sun is currently the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of AspenBridge Advisory. With two decades of experience in the technology sector, she worked at Baidu, Huawei, and its subsidiaries for many years. Her roles encompassed strategic planning, industry research, product and operations management, process transformation, and quality management. She holds degrees from Yale School of Management and Renmin University of China.
