Workshop: Microfading and Light Management in Museums

Tuesday, May 26, 2015 to Wednesday, May 27, 2015

This two-day workshop is hosted by Yale University’s Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (IPCH) in collaboration with the University of Science and Technology Beijing, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Chinese Museums Association - Collection Conservation Committee. The workshop sessions will include lectures on the fundamental principles of color, museum lighting, and color changes from light exposure. Microfading, a new nondestructive test of color stability, will be described and the instrument will be demonstrated by Dr. Paul Whitmore, who invented the technique.
